"Design is not just about the way things look. Design is also about the way things are used; how they are communicated to the world; and the way they are produced." - John Thakara For SME's design, innovation and growth are linked. Design investment can increase long-term profitability. Innovation and design aren't simply about new products or technology. They're also about how to improve products in everyday use, leading to reduced costs, increased usability and new business opportunities. Research has proven that businesses that use design innovate more often, more effectively and compete less on price. Companies that integrate design at the highest strategic levels are 2.5 times more successful than those that do not. Yet only 15% of organizations use design at this level. One of the reasons may be they just don't know how. This workshop is all about experiencing how design intervention can create a competitive advantage for you - meaning market leadership, increased sales and lower costs through greater efficiency. The design challenge for the workshop will be related to how industry can innovate in a recession. Presenters will share several strategies for designing new products, services, and offerings, and participants will explore how they might apply these to their own businesses. Topics Human-centered design Interactive brainstorming and prototyping activities Branding and Strategy Product Innovation through User Centred Design Interactive discussion Who should attend The workshop is for owners, managing directors, senior managers of Small and Medium Enterprises aiming to grow and improve their performance through design.
