Peter Mcgrory

Along with his position as Professor of Design Management at the School of Design at the University of Art & Design Helsinki TaiK, and Director of the Finnish Design Management Institute, Professor McGrory's current research interests involve, amongst others, exploring the breadth and strategic potential of integrated platform strategies as a basis for gaining and sustaining competitive advantage in international markets.
Over the past twenty years Peter McGrory has worked for several design consultancies and business / manufacturing organizations in Europe and the United States designing and managing a variety of consumer and capital goods products and projects for companies such as Logstrup (DK), Morphy - Richards (UK), Hamilton Beach (USA), Glen Dimlex (IRL), Leyland - Daf and Shell Oil (UK). More recently McGrory has consulted and run a number of Design Business Foresight Workshops for a variety of Finnish organizations which include Valmet (Paper Machines), Nokia (Mobile Phones), Sonera (Telecommunications), FinPro (information and support organization for Internationalizing Finnish Businesses), Ittala (Table & Cookware).
Peter received his undergraduate degree in Industrial Design from the NCAD Dublin in 1986, and masters degree in Design Leadership from UIAH Helsinki in 1992. He is currently a doctoral candidate at the Technical University in Tallinn TTU.
