Nachiket Thakur (34 years) is Masters in Design from Industrial Design Center IITMumbai having 10 years of experience in the field of product design and development for medical, electronics, software, mechanical and automobile products. He has expertise in new product development, application developments, var ious mater ials & processes. At present he is heading the Product Design and Development Cell at Mahindra Composites.
Founder & Board member of Pune Design Foundation. Instrumental in organizing last two Pune Design Festivals and coordinating the India Design Festival 09.
Founder, Bamboo Vishwa, Bamboovishwa, an NGO is a platform for bamboo enthusiasts. Bamboovishwa strives to spread awareness about bamboo and its applications. Trains and develops products in bamboo for generating livelihood for artisans.
He is perusing his doctoral thesis in "Impact of Design processes in the Automotive & Bamboo sector" with Pune University.
Awards and Recognition:
- Won the ICERP-JEC Innovation Award in Transportation category for outstanding innovation in composites in Feb 2008.
- Won the Design Excellence Award 2004 instituted by National Institute of Design and Business World. The design of MiniMAX boiler house for Forbes Marshall got this award in the Best Industry Design Category.
- Best Exhibit (Exhibition DESIGN) of ENCON 2002 & ENCON 2004 in POONA.
- WON a special commendation in the II Annual AMBIENCE Award 2002 for design for the CENTER TABLE completely in Corrugated board, a fully biodegradable and recycled material.
