Hari Nair is a global designer with a footprint in the US and Asia. He currently operates out of New Delhi and Shanghai, heading the Asia region, which includes India, China, South East Asia and Oceania, of the Global Consumer Design function for Whirlpool.
Mr. Nair has been able to influence the transformation process at several corporations and major institutions, leveraging technology and design in combination with strategic thinking. He has consulted for Hasbro, Polaroid, Swarovski, and P&G among others. He taught industrial design at the College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning at the University of Cincinnati and Rhode Island School of Design while also establishing the computer graphics initiatives at these Institutions. He lead several design and user interface research projects with IBM Corporation and Apple Computers while at RISD. He founded Tech Mediator in Cambridge, Massachusetts with a view to humanizing technology for higher education, developing user friendly courseware working with several major publishing houses, ITT education and MIT OCW program.
An award-winning designer and a pioneer in the use of 3D modeling in the design process with several publications, Mr. Nair has been instrumental in driving design education initiatives in India as a UN Consultant. He holds graduate degrees in Industrial Design from Syracuse University, NY and Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay in addition to a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering.
